I went to a milonga last night. It was in a small but beautiful dance studio. The studio has great floor, elegant lighting and a bar at the corner of the dance floor-- it looks like the Studio 101 in NY.
I was afraid that I wouldn't get to dance much since I only know 2 friends in Taipei who dance tango and I am not even sure if they would come to the milonga. In addition, you know, Taiwanese men are shy... they don't ask new comer to dance often.
But maybe just because the host knows that for new comers it is not easy to be asked in the milonga, therefore as soon as he saw me sitting at the corner of the floor, he came to ask me to dance.
His name is Daniel. He is my first tango teacher.
It is just so wonderful and comfortable to dance with him.
I told him that he is my first tango teacher, who leads me to this wonderful tango world. Then I told him that I have a tango blog. Couple months ago he found my blog and left a message , recommending me to read Kiss and Tango, which is a very interesting book. He seems very happy to know these.
After dancing with Daniel, guys started to ask me to dance. From my observation, I was surprised that the their skill level are high. I didn't see many people struggling in the dance floor, instead, they are flying and sliding! Later Tino and Frederic showed and danced with me couple times. I've known Tino for 18 years now. We know each other so well that I didn't even feel the slightest nurvous when dancing with him.
At the end, I danced and danced, one after another.
Till the time flew by, till I dropped.
At the end, I danced and danced, one after another.
